Preliminary Results of the St. Petersburg Technical
Fair 2007
The St. Petersburg Technical Fair 2007 has completed
its work on the 16 March. The 3rd edition of the event was held
under the patronage of Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Russian
Federation, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and
Federal Agency of Industry. The Fair included the Industrial Congress
and 10 international specialised exhibitions in metallurgy, machine
engineering, tool manufacturing, logistics and production process
automatisation.
Traditions
The Fair was filled with business events:
7 seminars, 3 conferences, 3 round tables and 8 presentations were
held during the four days of the Fair.
The 3rd day of the St. Petersburg Technical Fair was announced the
Young Specialist’s Day. Over 350 students of 15 educational
establishments of St. Petersburg, Novgorod and the Leningrad oblast
have visited the Fair and contacted potential employers.
Many of the companies-exhibitors have taken part in the contest
program. 60 applications from 56 companies from Russia and Republic
of Belarus were addressed to the “ Best Innovation Project
in Metallurgy and Machine Engineering” contest, held in
9 nominations. According to its results, 37 diplomas and medals
were granted to the participants of the contest.
New wave
Following the tendencies of the modern exhibition
industry, the St. Petersburg Technical Fair is getting more and
more a center of international business communication.
Over 70 international companies took part in the Fair this year.
Presentation of their products and services was not their only goal.
There was a meeting of Jyvaskyla Region, Finland representatives
with the North-West region businessmen was held on March, 13.
Czech and Slovak Republics have hold presentation of their metalworking
industries on the next Fair's working day. "Conveyor of Sales"
is a business game held within the Fair's frames for the first time.
Its main target was to demonstrate the sales techniques and ways
of holding negotiations in the competitive environment.
Note
The St. Petersburg Industrial Congress has also
taken place within the frameworks of the Fair. Its program included
conferences, specialised seminars and round tables. One of the topics
discussed during the congress was – "production companies'
IPO as an instrument for increasing transparency and price".
According to the observations of market players, Russian heavy industry
companies, including metallurgy, are actively entering the world's
markets: 3 years ago the "Mechel"steel group has held the IPO in
New York; the "Evraz", NLMK and "Seversta" companies
took their places at the stock house of London in 2006. A lot of
analytics forecast the leadership of the Russian heavy industry
enterprises and transport companies in the IPO quantity in 2007.
Just figures
Over 350 industrial and commercial organisations
took part in the St. Petersburg Technical Fair in 2007. 25% of them
– international companies from Belarus, Germany, China, Lichtenstein,
Slovakia, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, Finland, Czech Republic, Sweden,
and Estonia.
18% have signed protocols
of intentions at the exhibition
76% held preliminary negotiations about
supply and cooperation
100% of the participants held PR-actions
and marketing researches, strengthened their
business connections and made new contacts.

production rates as well as attraction of investments to the real
sector of economy. It is notable that our city hosts many industrial
exhibitions among the exhibitors of which there are not only successful

Petersburg Technical Fair that is held for the
third time already stands out among other events. In these years
the fair has become an inseparable part of city’s business

Our city is open for cooperation. It is important
that every year the number of Russian and foreign participants of
the fair is increasing and that growth is provided by not only interesting
exposition, but also by a highly topical business program.
I am confident that the Petersburg Technical
Fair will become the venue for demonstration of latest samples of
industrial products, foster further development of the real sector

The European Tour of PTFair 2007
In the course of September and October three
foreign presentations of the Petersburg Technical Fair were held
in Czech Republic, Poland and Sweden within the framework of the
International Fair of casting technologies for Metal, the International
Mechanical Engineering Exhibition MSV-2006 and the Scandinavian
Technical Fair. The organization of the presentation was provided
by Restec Exhibition Company.
The Petersburg Technical Fair (13-16 March, Saint
Petersburg), which in recent years has become the most interesting
industrial event in the North-Western region of the Russian Federation,
including its allotted exhibitions "Metallurgy" and "Casting",
arouse a keen interest of participants and visitors of the casting
fair "Metal" in Poland. Within three days there were
held negotiations with more than 150 representatives of metallurgical
and casting companies of England, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland,
Slovakia, Slovenia and Czech Republic. It is pleasant to notice
that during the exhibition its sponsors, Targi Kielce company executives,
found time for visiting the stand of the Petersburg Technical Fair
and conducting negotiations with the Russian delegation. Under the
negotiations, they reached an agreement on organization, provided
by Targi Kielce company, of Polish national exhibits at the Petersburg
Technical Fair and on mutual event information support.
Within the framework of the Scandinavian Technical
Fair there were held negotiations with organizers of the fair
and participants of the exhibitions about participation of Swedish
mechanical engineering and machine tool companies in Saint Petersburg
exhibitions. Participation interests and desire to present their
productions at the Russian market were also shown by other foreign
participants of the events, among them: HUNTER (USA), SZOPIENICE,
HUTA BUCZEK è ESAB (Poland), MC-TECH (Italy), MOTUL (Germany).
Members of the fair steering committee also took
part in the operation of the most meaningful in Europe mechanical
engineering exhibition MSV-2006 in Czech Republic. Negotiations
with representatives of the Czech Business Support Agency "CzechTrade"
and BVV company (MSV-2006 organizer) confirmed that the exhibitions
"Metalworking" and "Tools" were included in
the plan of the Czech Department of Industry for rendering government
support to Czech companies in taking part in international exhibitions.
In this respect, in 2007 within the framework of the Fair a collective
exposition of Czech Republic will be organized, and the "Czech
Days" event is scheduled to be held in Russia.
We hope that the work done by the delegation
of the Petersburg Technical Fair at the most popular European exhibit
events will expand the circle of participants and visitors of the
Petersburg Technical Fair 2007.

New opportunities for an effective cooperation
Today, the subcontracting model of production becomes
the most reasonable one for large-scale enterprises in reaching
the decision of production process optimisation. Lots of foreign
enterprises are willing to treat the question of transferring a
part of production to the territory of Russia. In the first place
all this concerns casting production, different types of mechanical
treatment and coating process.
In this respect, the Organising Committee declares a new exhibition
"Subcontracting
North-West" within the framework of the Petersburg Technical
Fair open.
In 2007 the profile of the Fair will be supplemented with up-to-date
exhibitions, which for the moment are in demand of specialists of
all industrial branches.
The Petersburg Technical Fair 2007 calls attention of specialists
to this new project.
